Today is April 29, 2025 and I’m officially launching this blog. My very first website is live! It’s not perfect, and that’s okay. I’ve built it from scratch as part of a bigger mission: to learn AI tools from the ground up, document everything I discover, and help other beginners, especially small business owners – do the same.
Why I’m Doing This
At the start of this year, I felt a strong pull to make a meaningful change. I wanted to do work that felt creative, energising, and aligned with my values. Deep down, I knew it was time to explore something new – something that would challenge me, inspire me, and allow me to grow in a direction that felt truly right
I kept hearing about AI. Everyone was talking about it, but it always sounded complex and out of reach, like something only coders or tech professionals could understand.
But then I thought: What if I didn’t wait to become an expert? What if I just started?
So, I did.
What I’ve Done So Far (As a Total Beginner)
Instead of overthinking it, I took action. Here’s what I’ve done over the past few weeks – without a tech background or formal training:
- Started using ChatGPT Free to learn the basics of prompting.
- Explored Canva’s AI tools to experiment with design and content.
- Created a pretend beauty business to practice:
- Making a logo
- Designing a testimonial post
- Editing a short video
- Designed a simple PDF prompt guide for small business beginners.
- Built a Google Sheet to track every AI tool I try, my personal learning dashboard.
- And today… I launched this website to share it all.
I’m not an expert. But I am showing up. Learning as I go. And building something I believe in.
What I’ve Learned (Already!)
Even in this short time, I’ve learned that:
- You don’t need to be a tech wizard to use AI tools effectively.
- Prompting is a real skill and gets easier (and more fun) with practice.
- Tools like Canva and ChatGPT can help you create amazing things fast – even if you’ve never done anything like this before.
- Taking action beats waiting for perfection.
This journey isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about starting before you’re ready and growing along the way.
What’s Coming Next
From here, I’ll be exploring one new AI tool at a time. Tools that small business owners and creators can actually use to save time, get inspired, and build smarter.
Next on my list:
- Upgrading to ChatGPT Pro
- Testing video creation tools like Pictory
- Learning basic no-code automations
For every tool I explore, I’ll document the process, break it down in simple language, and share practical ways you can use it too. Everything will be added to my AI Starter Sheet and shared right here on the blog.
